Sound  and Video Access Policies

Recently we were asked for access to copy some cassette tapes from our inventory. As Archivist we are charged with protecting Anonymity of our members. Who do we release information too? What kind of information do we release? These are questions that arise. As we discussed the matter on a recent visit to Archives, our coordinator picked up the phone and called our new GSO Archivist Amy F. She responded very quickly with some potential guidelines being developed as we speak. A couple of tidbits are as follows: "However we are bound by several factors that may limit our ability to duplicate or provide access to our recordings." "Archives staff may have to view and/or listen to determine subject content and/or suitability for outside distribution and duplication, paying particular attention to issues of anonymity." "The Archives Department reserves the right to restrict duplication due to concerns of copyright, anonymity, condition, or donor restrictions." "The Archives Department restricts use of its recordings in television, video, motion picture, and all other media productions, including posting on the Internet. For use in these media, separate permission must be obtained from AAWS." These tidbits are in Draft mode and not accepted as guidelines as yet. They are hopefully sparks that will ignite Area 64 Archives Committee to begin to hammer out a chosen ideal for our Guidelines as it relates to our tape library as well as any other material that may be copied and released to our fellowship. We have made several copies of Jack K. The Beginnings Of Nashville AA and marked as Confidential released to your trust. Please respect Anonymity and keep within our Fellowship. We learn as we grow.
