Area 64 Archives Coordinator Report
This quarter started real quick. After leaving Oak Ridge on Sunday afternoon, the Northside Group at the Flat Iron in Knoxville, Tennessee invited your coordinator to display your traveling archive's and share my story. August 11, 2006 I attended the six annual long timers meeting in Kingsport, displayed the Traveling Archives. Bill T. 46 year sober member brought our Grapevine display up thru August 2006. Bill had previously given us every Grapevine printed in magazine form. September 2, 2006 the New Way Club in Chattanooga, Tn. invited the Traveling Archives to a fund raising event. I shared my story @ noon and shared my experience in AA history @ 2:00 p.m. All these events were well attended with a lot of emphasis on the Archives. Sept 14-17, 2006 Area 64 Archives Committee was well represented at the 10 Annual National Archives Workshop in Baton Rouge. Tom N. and Sue, "past Chairman" David L and Karen "Archivist" Joe C, newly elected Chair, Charles M. your coordinator attended. Area 64 had one of two only Traveling Archives displays. The host committee in Louisiana had the other. Needless to say we had a lot of attention. We enjoyed meeting Amy F. newly appointed Archivist @ GSO. We have since had several opportunities to share with her Area 64 events Archives related. The event registered 124 people three more than # 9 in Murfreesboro. Allot of things slipped thru the cracks per our guidelines. As a member of the steering committee for the NAW. Sunday morning most of those things were addressed by your coordinator. The 11 NAW will be held in Phoenix Arizona weekend of September 6, 2007. For the first time we are looking two years out on bids. Niagara falls N.Y. will host #12 Sept of 2008. We are blessed that we have tentative bids for Sept 2009 in Wisconsin and in Minnesota. All the workshops were well attended and lots of information came forward. October 1, 2006 district 2 Johnson City Tennessee invited the Traveling Archives to a sponsorship workshop. I wore two hats. I served on the sponsorship panel and displayed your traveling archives. This was probably the most impressive group that I have worked with. People in that area had never seen nor heard of Area 64 Archives. More interest was shown in our display than I have received as your coordinator. Approximately 75 people were in attendance and I'm grateful to have had the privilege of being there. Now is the time to ask groups districts and events for two dollars a quarter 8 dollars year contributions so our committee can remain self supporting.
Yours in Love & Service, Charles M.
